Say goodbye to fall allergies

It happens every fall. When ragweed blooms, so do allergies. The sneezing starts. The eyes itch and the nose runs.
Seasonal allergies can be a pain, but there is hope. With a little planning, you can banish the allergens and breathe easier. Here's what you can do:
Check the weather. If it's dry and windy, skip the hike and opt for an indoor activity instead. You can check pollen counts on the National Allergy Bureau website.
Say no to yardwork. Pass off mowing and raking leaves to someone else. If that's not possible, wear a mask as you work.
Get clean. Take a shower after you go outside or before you go to bed. This will help rinse pollen off your body.
Filter your air. Close windows and turn on the air conditioning instead. Change your HVAC filter regularly.
Rinse your sinuses. Look for a squeeze bottle or a neti pot at a pharmacy or health food store. Use it regularly to flush out mucus and allergens from your nose.
